THE WOMEN OF ST. JOHN

The Women of St. John is the local chapter of the Antiochian Orthodox Church Women of North America (AOCWNA) founded in 1989.

The Women of St. John chapter is also a member of the Southeast Region AOCWNA organization and the National AOCWNA, both of which meet twice a year. Each year, AOCWNA chapters across North America promote a common charity. Most recently, the archdiocese has identified ten orphanages to received both a cash contribution as well as a contribution to the endowment fund.

The local group also provides a structure for spiritual growth, service, socializing, and scheduling. There is a "business meeting" one Sunday a month 10 minutes after the coffee hour prayer for 30 to 45 minutes to select and schedule activities.

Anyone is invited to attend and contribute to the discussion. Although there is no formal organization to join or dues to pay, participating in opportunities to serve, socialize and study creates a sense of belonging. To be included on the email list (or the snail mail list), please leave a message for Anne Dugan at the church 901/274-4119 or send an e-mail to annedugan@bellsouth.net
