YOUNG ADULTS

The passage to adulthood is a bit ambiguous and stressful. When does it happen? How will one cope with the changes of not being under the protective care of one’s parents, of providing for one’s daily needs, and of trying to live a God-centered life?

In order to support one another spiritually, the young adults of our parish have met together weekly for over 3 years. Ages range from high school seniors to those in their early 30’s. Each Sunday evening the members gather for a meal together at eight which is followed with a teaching and/or discussion. Topics cover the waterfront — Bible Study, the lives of saints, moral issues, ethics, spiritual and ascetical writings. The gathering ends with the service of small compline, or a shortened form of it. The location varies according to the host for the evening.

Additionally, the group does special outings together, such as a Super Bowl party or pizza or a trip to a Redbirds’ game. As a service to the younger children and parents of the parish, the young adults have recently begun a "Kids’ Night Out" once a month. There is no cost for bringing children, but any donations are given to current needs outside the parish, such as foreign priests, struggling new Orthodox missions, contributions to Food for Hungry People, etc.

Come visit us. We love visitors and look forward to getting to know you better. Contact the church office for this week’s host.
